Professional Licensure for Distance Education Students

Professional licensure or credentialing requirements vary in each state and are not covered by SARA reciprocity. Before beginning any academic program that requires licensure, distance education students should refer to the appropriate licensing agency for the state in which they plan to practice.

The following programs are designed to meet initial licensure standards set by the Mississippi Department of Education. They DO NOT meet requirements for initial licensure outside of the State of Mississippi. Students seeking licensure in another state may still be able to obtain licensure in another state via various options such as reciprocity, additional state-specific education, examination or experience. Please review the information below to determine if the program meets the requirements for licensure in your state or the state in which you would like to practice professionally. It is recommended that all students contact the appropriate licensing board in the state in which they reside or plan to practice to confirm specific requirements.

This program satisfies the licensure eligibility requirements set forth by the governing body in the State of Mississippi. Student who satisfactorily complete the program are eligible to earn the nationally recognized certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) from the American Health Information Management Association.

If you feel you have exhausted the Carey compliant procedures and are still not satisfied, you may contact NC-SARA directly using their SARA Student Complaint Process at or please see Section 4.4 of the SARA Policy Manual at .

A reduction of tuition and fees is calculated when a student drops classes or withdraws from school. The percentage used in the calculation will be based on the week during which the class was officially dropped. These dates and percentages can be found on the attached schedule of dates. Students withdrawing from the university after the start of classes will not receive a refund for residence hall or board fees. Prepayments are returned in accordance with the agreements under which they are made.

As of 1/17/25, no adverse actions related to our online degree programs have been initiated by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) or the National Council of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) against Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Carey University for the past five years.

Please be aware that students who relocate to another state while enrolled at Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Carey University may become ineligible for Title IV finding or potentially be unable to complete their studies, if locating to a state where Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Carey University is not authorized to offer an online option or does not meet licensure or certification requirements. It is the student’s responsibility to inform Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Carey University before any relocation and contact the applicable program contact for additional information.
